Who Am I..

Hello and welcome to Full Cup Counselling. My name is Claire Burgess, an Integrative Counsellor and accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

My approach is warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental, creating a safe space where trust can grow and clients feel supported to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I work in a largely solution-focused way, helping with challenges such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, anger, jealousy, bereavement, identity, chronic health conditions, and everyday life concerns.

I am certified in Relationship Counselling and support couples, offering a free 20-minute initial consultation. I also work part-time as a Child Bereavement Therapist, supporting children and young people as they navigate grief and loss.

With a background in Health, Social Care, and Education, I am passionate about personal growth and helping people realise their potential.

My Services

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy provides a space to slow down, listen, and reconnect. Together, we explore patterns, unmet needs, and shared goals to help you build a relationship that feels more secure, honest, and aligned.

Couples therapy offers a supportive space to strengthen connection, improve communication, and navigate challenges together. Whether you’re feeling disconnected, stuck in patterns, or simply want to deepen your relationship, therapy helps you understand each other more clearly and move forward with intention.

Sessions are tailored to support your relationship goals—whether that’s repair, growth, or reconnection.

Bereavement

At Full Cup Counselling, I understand that grief can feel overwhelming, confusing, and at times isolating. Loss can affect every part of your life — emotionally, physically, and psychologically — and everyone experiences it in their own unique way. You do not have to navigate this journey alone.

I offer a warm, safe, and compassionate space where you can talk openly about your loss without fear of judgment. Together, we gently explore the complex emotions that grief can bring, whether that’s sadness, anger, guilt, numbness, or even relief. We work at a pace that feels right for you, allowing you the time and space to process your experience fully.

Through our work, I aim to help you better understand your feelings, develop coping strategies, and gradually adjust to life after loss while continuing to honour the person or situation you have lost. My role is to walk alongside you with empathy and care, supporting you in finding healing, resilience, and a renewed sense of hope during this deeply challenging time.

Individual Therapy

Empathy sits at the heart of healing. I offer individual therapy tailored to meet you exactly where you are in your life right now — whether you’re feeling depleted and in need of restoration, or overwhelmed and needing space to process what feels too much.

Using a compassionate, solution-focused approach, I support you in exploring challenges from your past, navigating present difficulties, and building confidence for the future. Together, we’ll work to better understand your emotions, thoughts, and behaviours, identifying practical and meaningful strategies that help you regain balance and clarity.

My aim is to provide a safe, supportive environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered — helping you move towards a life that feels fuller, steadier, and more aligned with who you truly are.

Why Choose Me

Choosing the right counsellor is an important step, and it’s natural to want to feel confident in that decision. At Full Cup Counselling, I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting, which is why I aim to make the process welcoming, reassuring, and centred entirely around you. My focus is on building a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, valued, and supported every step of the way. Here are some of the reasons clients choose to begin their journey with me.

Safe Space

I create a space where you can safely refill your cup. Whether you’re feeling emotionally drained or overwhelmed, I provide a calm, supportive environment where you can pause, reflect, and begin to restore balance.

Personalised Support

I tailor therapy to you as an individual. No two people are the same, so I don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. I work collaboratively with you to understand your unique experiences, challenges, and goals.

Solution-Focused

While we acknowledge and explore the past when needed, I help you develop practical strategies to manage your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in the present and future.

Compassionate Care

You can speak openly with me, knowing you will be met with empathy, understanding, and confidentiality at all times.

Relationship Support

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, or relationship difficulties, I help you improve communication, strengthen understanding, and build healthier connections.

Local Presence

I’m proud to serve the Leigh-on-Sea community. Being locally based means I understand the pressures and pace of modern life, and I’m here to provide accessible, consistent support close to home.
